| Anne Marie Box (B Bus, PGrad Psych, Assoc MAPS) Anne Marie says “being with and around people” has always been one of favourite interests. As second eldest of seven children “perhaps it was just bred into me”, she says. Anne Marie holds degrees in both business and psychology and she is also an accredited mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner. She has travelled extensively both across Australia and around the world. Originally from Melbourne since moving to the Sunshine Coast three years ago and is just embarking on her private practice. Anne Marie has a wide and varied background in business and management spanning a number of industries including travel and tourism, health, public relations and construction. According to her “the common thread throughout my career has always been that they were people orientated”. “Given my interest and love of being with people it was a natural progression to undertake a psychology degree as a mature age student”. “I think maturity is one of the most valuable assets to have when practising psychology as you have more experience and usually have had to cope with a number of life’s challenges”. “Overcoming and learning to cope with life and all its challenges I believe facilitates the work I have done with clients”, she says. To date Anne Marie’s psychological practice has led her to work with clients across the lifespan. Working with children as a school counsellor and also with the Supporting Children after Separation Program, with adults in a community based program in Melbourne and in aged and palliative care (assisting patients, families and staff to cope with life transitions) in Queensland. Her mediation practice involved working with separating adults. According to Anne Marie her time spent with supporting children after separation has been a wonderful addendum to her mediation practice enabling her special insight to the importance of child focussed family dispute resolution. “When developing parenting plans being child focussed will, almost always, facilitate the clients coming to an agreement and being able to move on, in a positive way with their lives”, she says.According to Anne Marie her coaching orientation informs all the areas of her practice. “Collaborating and empowering people in the change process is truly rewarding” she says. Seeing people change in ways that enhances their lives personally with family and friends and in the workplace is a true privilege. |
